Dairy Producers Visit ABS Australia

Albury, NSW - February 16, 2006 - Forty dairy producers from across Gippsland, Northern and Western Victoria visited the ABS Australia facilities in Albury, NSW to view the outstanding line-up of Holstein and Jersey bulls for the upcoming breeding season. The visit was organized by Rick Orchard of Orchards Superior Herds as part of a daughter inspection tour in the area, and was facilitated by Geoff Wood, ABS Australia Dairy Product Manager.

Guests viewed the new semen collection facilities as well as an interesting presentation on equipment and processes for freezing and storing semen. After seeing some of the key ABS sires, including LUCKYSTRIKE, CALVIN and FOUNDATION visitors were treated to a sausage sizzle while Graeme Gillan, ABS Australia Sire Analyst gave a presentation on the ABS progeny testing program.

Many favourable comments were received from visitors impressed with the importance placed upon producing high quality semen, attention to employee safety and the efforts undertaken to ensure the reliability of proven sires. “ABS is a major supplier of semen to our business and we appreciate their breeding philosophies that are focused on making sound, profitable cows” Mr. Orchard stated. We look forward to our continued business relations with ABS and thank them for their hospitality today.”
