Advance Genetics, which recently became a member of the ABS Australia, was nominated for this award by the city of Warrnambool to compete against entrants from a region extending from Colac to the South Australia border. The agribusiness sector, with ten entrants, was the prime category in the awards event. The exceptional performance of the Advance Genetics business, coupled with the quality of the application, were keys to the victory, according to partner Paul Quinlan. “The judges were very interested in the Electronic Milk Meter (EMM) as this represented ‘new’ technology” Quinlan said. “They also commented on the detail of the submission that included our business plan, OH&S document and advertising material and plans. They understood that we were on a mission to be the best Herd Improvement business in Australia and our profitable, rapid growth and detailed forecasting were other noted key reasons. Most importantly, while they liked our business plan, they said we obviously had the staff to deliver on our objectives” While Advance Genetics is a relatively new entrant into the livestock herd improvement industry, having started just two years ago, the principals of the company - Paul and Anne-Maree Quinlan, John and Katherine McKinnon, Mark and Debbie Handley and Bill and Elizabeth Quinlan have a lifetime of experience in providing superior products and services to their customers. Their success is directly attributed to their ability to plan and deliver results to their customers, and is mutually shared with their high quality staff. “We were always confident that we had built a strong company and that our goals were achievable and practical, and the success of the business in such a short time, coupled with this award, validates our efforts” John McKinnon added. The partners all agreed that the hard work of Anne-Maree Quinlan in preparing and submitting their application was a key to their nomination, and subsequent award. In January of this year Advance Genetics progressed their plan to be a superior provider of genetic and services to the industry, by merging their operations with ABS Australia, the leading supplier of bovine genetics, herd improvement and related services in Australia. “The parallels in business objectives and commitment to the industry shared by Advance Genetics and ABS Australia made this a very logical fit,” said ABS Australia General Manager Steve Fried. “We share identical goals and aspirations of providing our employees with a vibrant, exciting work environment and our customers with premium products, systems and services to benefit their profitability.” Based in Albury, NSW, ABS Australia is a subsidiary of Genus plc, the largest supplier of bovine genetics and related reproductive products in the world.
