FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New ABS Reproductive Management SpecialistAlbury, NSW - April 24, 2006 - ABS Australia is pleased to announce that Chris Kendall has been hired to the newly-developed role of Reproductive Management Specialist. Raised on a dairy farm in Australia, Kendall received his Master’s Degree in Dairy Science at the University of Wisconsin where his studies were focused on dairy nutrition, reproduction, milk quality and forage management. During his studies he was involved in trouble shooting projects on Wisconsin dairies where he experienced first-hand the challenges of optimizing reproductive efficiency in high producing cows. Since completing his studies and returning home he has managed both large and small dairies in Australia, most recently a 1,100 cow dairy in the Shepparton area. “Adding Chris to our team is a critical step towards defining ABS Australia as the industry leader in providing technical support to improve our customers profitability” explained ABS Australia General Manager Steve Fried. “While customers look to us for high quality genetics, we recognize that if the reproductive performance on the farm is being challenged the genetics become secondary to getting the cows pregnant. We need to be a sustaining resource to our customers to ensure that their investments in semen are being maximized.” ABS has developed technical support services in many countries over the past eight years and the results generated in other markets are able to be transported to the Australian environment. In coming months Kendall will be spending time on local dairies reviewing reproductive processes and will also be working with the ABS Global technical support team to design programs for introduction in Australia. “I am excited about the challenges and opportunities that this new position provides” Kendall said. “I am personally committed to improving the fertility of our client’s herds in a cost effective fashion. Fertility issues are a major concern on Australian dairies but I know that through a systematic approach to managing the factors affecting reproduction we will be able to deliver more AI calves to our customers!” Chris and his wife Lauren live in Shepparton and when not working Chris enjoys golf, football and water skiing. Based in Albury, NSW, ABS Australia is a subsidiary of Genus plc, the largest supplier of bovine genetics and related reproductive products in the world.
